![]() I had a couple of Warrior QR4's, and I had similar problems receiving hard passes. ![]() I don't take many slap shots, but the added power on them was a welcomed surprise with the RBZ. I'd love to get a stick with a very stiff blade, but low kick point as this could be the ultimate snap shot & passing combo for me. It's like this particular blade deadens the puck immediately for me. So far, I don't feel any flexing in my blade from passes and unlike conventional wisdom that a hard/stiff blade makes catching passes tougher, I somehow find it easier. Yes, it's the indian and not the arrow 80%, but I wanted to see what a stiff blade could do for me. I believe Base Hockey lets you choose blade stiffness independent of the shaft thickness - I've never ordered from them but there's a page on their site describing the option: ĭidn't NEED one, but now that I moved up levels, passes from team mates are much harder and I found my DT4 to almost visibly flex in the blade section on a hard pass to me. It doesn't sound like you necessarily needed to find a stick with a really stiff blade, but I think you definitely needed a new stick with a blade that wasn't 'broken'. Hard passes for redirects/onetimers become near impossible on a blade like that they just open right up as if the puck is going through them. Visually, it looks perfectly fine.įor me, once a blade break down like this (and I've got other sticks with the same problem - they usually last a lot longer than the 6092 did though) they are unplayable. Scientifically, I'm sure someone can explain what is happening internally to the carbon fiber, all I know is it crunches when you flex it with your hands and the blade moves/bends in ways it shouldn't. I've had other Tacks and Ultra Tacks that have lasted way longer, usually they chip up at the toe but don't 'go crunchy' in the middle like this. The quickest blade breakdown I've seen recently was with a brand new CCM Tacks 6092 - less than two months of infrequent use, shaft and blade look brand new, but the blade 'crunches' when you flex it in your hand and is a lot softer than when I first bought it. I might be going CCM now for the foreseeable future.īlades do go soft on some models. I'll have to get used to the stiffer overall feel for stick handling, but so far I really like this stick. My slappers are incredibly faster now and I don't feel like my other shots have suffered, even though the RBZ might not be as quick of a release. I ended up getting the RBZ 290 in 85 flex, which is MUCH stiffer than my old DT4 stick. ![]() I have no way of trying the stick out in person so I'd love some general opinions about its feel and performance (obviously that's all kind of subjective but I'd still appreciate some input).Įdit: Thanks for the feedback everyone.Just wanted to thank you guys for the recommendations. How does the DT1 compare to the new QR1 model? Is the QR1 worth the extra $130? 4 which is about 100 grams heavier so imagine the DT1 will feel awesome in comparison. Is that an issue? I'll be upgrading from a Bauer Supreme One. I've read that the DT1 is a lot heavier than other sticks at its price point. I want something that will last at least six months, preferably a year. I was seriously considering the Easton V9E but decided against it after reading about its durability issues. I'm interested in the intermediate 55 flex version. I've been playing for about a year and I primarily take wrist shots and snap shots (although I'm starting to learn how to Slapshot too). Can anyone offer some opinions on this stick? Right now I'm leaning towards the Warrior Covert DT1 LT which is on sale for $120. Hey guys I'm in the market for a new stick.
